A farmers' market is always a great place to take children. All the sights and sounds, not to mention smells and tastes, keep their attention. You can teach them the names of various fruits and vegetables, and inspire them to try some of these fancy new foods. A visit to the market is also a great way to start a day of cooking together. Children often have no idea what is involved in preparing their meals. Take them back to step one, obtaining the ingredients from a local farmer. Pepper Place Market offers live music, food demonstations, and art from local artist. The huge Birmingham market is open every day, all day, which makes this activity convenient, too. Free!!!!
